Starting tomorrow evening, Fifth Year student, Aisling Keogh, will take to the stage and play a key part in the Donabate  Portrane Dramatic society’s new production, Steel Magnolias. The production will run in Donabate Community College from the first to the fourth of November 2018. The play is said to be hilarious yet touching.

Steel Magnolias is a stage play by American writer Robert Harling, based on his experience with his sister’s death. The play is a comedy-drama about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana.

Aisling will star alongside Laura Brady, Aine Dilleen, Lorraine Halpin, Sandra Leadbetter and Lisa Buckley.

When we interviewed Aisling she told us about how her dad was actually the director of the play and he needed someone young to fit the part, so she agreed. Rehearsals have been in full swing three times a week, each lasting three hours. On top of a busy day at school, this is a considerable achievement for Aisling.

They hired a photographer to create headshots for the programme, which is sure to be a key purchase from tomorrow evening. They visited Suzanne Murray hairdressers to take more photos as the play is set inside a hairdressers.

On behalf of Donabate Community College we would like to wish Aisling and all of the cast good luck. Tickets will be 10 at the door and it promises to be a show not to be missed!
