Dear Parent

We wish to inform you about a number of recent thefts of bicycles outside of DCC during school times. We have notified the Gardai of this. The Gardai recommend that each bicycle owner should spend between 10%-20% of the value of the bike on TWO locks.

The Gardai recommend the following:

Crime Prevention Advice:

• Spend 10% to 20% of the value of your bike of two locks
• Lock your bike tightly to an immovable object
• Keep the lock off the ground
• Take a photo of your bike, note the serial number and email it back to yourself so you have a record of it forever.
• Lock your bike indoors or in well-lit areas if possible

Check out this link to the Gardai website for more information.

Please note that bicycles are not covered by the schools insurance and need to be insured under your home insurance.
