I recently asked Jeff Nwodo, from 3rd Year Rang Shelley, a number of questions about his successful football career. He has had the chance to represent the DDSL (Dublin District Schoolboy League) in the Kennedy Cup and was also part of the winning team, they won it over 32 teams from all over Ireland. He has also been over the sea to 2 Premier League clubs; Stoke City and Brighton and Hove Albion. Now he is playing for Dundalk in the League Of Ireland u15 competing against big teams such as Bohemians, St Pats and Drogheda United.He plays in the centre midfield, in a position that allows him to set up a lot of the goals.

Do you enjoy playing for Dundalk ? Why ?
“I love playing for Dundalk and it’s great fun and I also like playing in front of my family and showing my talent.”

How does it feel playing in Oriel Park ?
“It’s great playing in the stadium and it’s great knowing that the 1st team play in the stadium as well and Dundalk played their Champions league matches there as well.”

How was your experience over in England when you were on the trials ?
“It was an unbelievable experience being on trial over in England with Premier league teams and the facilities were so good and it’s very good to have that experience while playing now .The teams over there play at a high speed but it was very good to play with them and it was also good to get an assist against West Ham when I was playing with Brighton, I also got a call back to Brighton.”

Where do you want be playing in 5 years ?
“I want to be playing in the premier league with the top players and to make it into the 1st team.”

What position do you play ?
“I play in midfield but I was a defender for my old clubs so I can play both positions.”

What was your greatest moment in football ?
“When I won the Kennedy cup with the DDSL because it was good to know that you were a part of the best team in all of Ireland and to beat Sligo/Leitrim in the final was such a good feeling.”

How did you feel when you got a call back for Brighton?
“It felt great to get a call back from Brighton and my family were very happy for me as well and I can’t wait to get over there and to start playing again.”

What was your best game that you have played?
“The best game I played was with the DDSL and it was against u16 Cabinteely and I scored a hat-trick against them and also got the win that day.”
