DCC progressed through to the penultimate stage of the Leinster Senior Cup after an impressive victory over Tullow Community School on Tuesday afternoon. The game ended in a 5-1 victory for the home side on a damp and blustery day in Ballymastone.

DCC got off to a great start, retaining possession early on and stringing passes together. Despite being up against a strong wind, DCC did not allow Tullow to create goal chances. Good defending from Tullow led to multiple DCC corners. After numerous untaken chances in front of goal, Jason Dignam received the ball from Mark McMahon on the edge of the box, turned and neatly placed it out of the keeper’s reach into the bottom corner to put Donabate 1-0 up.

Adam Greene used his pace to control the left wing by attacking rapidly and getting back to make vital tackles. From midfield, Ciaran Lyons got on the ball and fed passes through to the wingers, orchestrating repeated DCC’s attacks. After a build up of passes, Jason Dignam played Sam Carroll through who finished in style, lifting it over the keeper into the back of the net. Tullow took one of their few chances to put the pressure on an easing DCC. To finish the half off, Jason bagged his second to put DCC 3-1 up at halftime.

Tullow came out strong in the second half, pressing DCC back. This led to Jeff Nwodo and Cormac Burke standing firm and denying any possible goal opportunities. Bobby Kelly moved back, helping the centre half duo whilst also instigating DCC’s attacks. Keeper Jack Kinsella was consistent with his distribution, allowing full back Dylan Geoghegan to attack down the right wing. Geoghegan linked up with winger Callum Leonard, who showed off his dribbling ability against the opposition. Manager, Mr. Clarke, used all five of his substitutions, re-energising the team. As the game came to a close, Jason Dignam completed his hat-trick. Mark McMahon ended the game on a high with a sweetly struck shot that soared into the top corner.

We would like to congratulate the team, Mark Madden and Mr. Clarke on their win and would like to wish them luck in the Leinster semi-final.
