Donabate CC Irish Debating Team Regional Finalists

Ar an gcéad lá déag de mhí an Márta, chuaigh an fhoireann díospóireachta (lena lucht tacaíochta) chuig Coláiste na bhFiann. Babhta leathcheannais a bhí ann. Bhí sceitimíní ar gach duine; na foirne agus an lucht féacanna freisin.

Ar an drochuair, níor bhuaigh ár bhfoireann, ach bhí siad an-mhaith ar fad. Ba mhaith linn comhghairdeas a thabhairt do Ella O’Neill, David Oliver agus Ciara Stell. Bhí ár bhfoireann ag díospóireacht le foirne iontacha, agus is rud maith é sin. Tá an scoil agus na múinteoirí an-bhródúil astu.

Commiserations to the Junior debating team who were unlucky not to progress to the All Ireland final last Tuesday. They faced teams from Eureka Kells, Sandford Park and Belvedere College to debate the motion that living in the countryside is better than life in the city.

DCC’s three speakers Ella O’Neill (team captain), David Oliver and Ciara Stell spoke admirably and debated bravely but were unlucky not to progress with only one of the four teams going through to the All Ireland Final. The team could not be faulted for their preparation and a big thank you to Neasa Bissett and Chloe Byrne who assisted the speakers in the planning and writing of the speeches.

A big thank you to Mr. O’Briain who mentored the team and thanks to the supporters who accompanied the team to Coláiste na bhFiann for moral support. We are looking forward to next year already!
