DCC U18’s GAA secured a vital place top of the group stage, with an important draw away to Ardgillan Community College.

Against the wind in the first half, DCC found it difficult to finish off well worked attacks while Ardgillan taking their points at ease with the wind. With the powerful wind against DCC, handpassing proved key to starting attacks which led to a well taken point from Colm Kavanagh. There was super defending all round in the backs with standout performances from Seán Lee and Karl Murray.

DCC went into halftime two points behind on a 0-05 to 0-03 scoreline. From the throw-in in the second half, DCC got off to a great start as they worked the ball up to Jack Kinsella who finished off the move with a brilliant point. With the wind on our side, DCC kept the ball in their half, however quick counter attacks kept Ardgillan in the lead. Goalkeeper Alex Redmond made a number of terrific saves, keeping the score tight. Two quick-fire goals from Cormac Burke put Donabate in a great position. With further points from substitute Ryan Hensey and Evan Brooks, DCC held on to earn a hard fought draw.

DCC earned themselves a point which helped them finish top of the table and a place into the quarter final. We would like to congratulate the team and Mr. Claffey on their win and wish them luck in the knockout stages.
