Recently, the first year awards ceremony was held in the main hall of the school. Before the awards were presented, Ms. Leahy and Ms. Flynn spoke to the first years about how well they had settled into life in Donabate Community College. Students were commended for their commitment to their studies and their hard work in their Winter exams.
Ms Leahy then presented awards to students for a range of achievements. Certificates were first presented for those with excellent attendance and punctuality. Ms. Leahy then proceeded with the presentation of certificates for subject achievement. The three students who achieved top grades across the year in each of their subjects were presented with a certificate and a voucher for Scrumdiddlys!
Ms. Leahy then made presentations to students for commendable reports. These were students who had excellent reports and feedback from their teachers. The Ad Astra Awards were also announced. Ad Astra Awards seek to congratulate and reward students who go above and beyond in the pursuit of academic excellence. The students are kind, courteous, polite and hard-working and go the extra mile for their fellow students and their own work.
