A very well done to Samantha Bretzer, Hazel McGoey and Kate Willett who competed at the horse-riding Inter-Schools recently at Killossery Lodge Stud. Kate, Hazel and Samantha all competed in the individual event with Samantha finishing top of the pile!

Unfortunately the team picked up a few faults in the team event, but they represented their school with pride.

Also well done to Samantha Bretzer who won a Showjumping Ireland pony class on Saturday in Cavan. She beat 100 other ponies and riders! No easy thing competing against riders that competed at European Championships this year.

I interviewed one of the team members Samantha Bretzer to get a better understanding of the show

How long have you been horse riding for?
“I have been horse riding for seven years.”
How do you prepare for a show?
“When I’m preparing for a show I have to wash my pony, plait his mane and tail and clean his tack.”
What did you have to do in the show?
“First I had to jump a course of eight jumps at the height of 85cm clear. After that I had to jump a timed speed round clear and have a fast time.”
How was your experience at the show ?
“It was a very early start but overall it was a great day, everyone did really well and it was very exciting”

Congratulations to all three students and we wish them well in the rest of their competition.
