On Monday 19th November,  the Junior Rugby team took to the pitch for their second match as a team against Malahide Community College. Every week they are showing great improvement as a team.

Their opposition on the pitch were a physically stronger team but this did not stop the DCC boys from giving it their all throughout the game. Superb tackles were put in by all players. Josh Tighe tracked across the pitch and put in some try-saving tackles to stop the Malahide winger on a number of occasions.

Ruari Fearn took to the pitch for his first game of rugby and made a great impact, making tackles on any opposition that came his way on the pitch. The pack worked so hard throughout the game taking up the ball and putting in hard tackles with Tom Callender, Justin Cremin and Callum Piner leading the way.

Before the half-time whistle blew, Sam Tanner Captain, chipped and chasing down his own kick to dive in for a try beating the opposition to the ball. Luke Hannigan kicked to convert the try. At the start of the second half, Sam was unable to continue playing and as a result, Luke took over both the fly-half position and captaincy. Both players, having a great understanding of the sport, fulfilled their role with confidence and were great leaders on the pitch.

A rearrangement of the backline saw players slot into different positions. Killian Hensey came off the
bench taking over as the fullback while Finn Collins moved into the centre.

Well done to all players on the day, it is a privilege to watch and support a team with great pride and determination with a willingness to never give up. This team has a bright future going forward and a credit to the school both on and off the pitch.
