Information Note for Parents and Students re On-Line Marking of Junior Cert French exam.

Dear parents and guardians,

We would like to make you aware of a communication we have just received from the State Examinations Commission. This is of importance to students sitting the Higher Level French Junior Cert Examination 2016.

At the 2016 certificate examinations the State Examinations Commission (SEC) will be piloting the use of on-line marking in the Junior Certificate Higher Level French Examination.

There is no significant change for students; they will complete the examination in the normal way. Their scripts will be collected and returned to the SEC in Athlone. At that stage they will be scanned and the paper document will become an electronic script.

To facilitate this process the examination paper will have a slightly different appearance to mock and past papers that students are already familiar with.  The paper will be modified slightly to include bar codes to each page. To facilitate and ensure accuracy in the scanning process it is very important that candidate complete the examination in a blue or black pen only . Examination superintendents will remind students of this requirement on the day of the examination however we would like to make you aware of these arrangements which will apply this year.

Yours sincerely,

The French Department
