Sixth year students went on their Geography field trip last week to Loughshinney beach. Unfortunately weather conditions were not too favourable for them and they carried out their experiments in the wind and rain on the exposed beach! Ms. Treacey’s class went on Wednesday and Ms. McArdle’s class the day after.

The objective of the trip was to investigate the impact of the processes of transportation and/or deposition on the formation of one coastal landform as part of their Leaving Certificate course. The project itself is worth 20% of the available marks in Geography. Students carried out 4 experiments in the wind and rain, which they will analyse and write up back in the classroom. A trip to Burger King for lunch on the way home helped them to thaw out before returning to school!
