Stressed About Exams? Help Is At Hand!

Coming up to the Winter exams, is a stressful time for most students, so to help ease some of that stress we have come up with a few tips to help you study in preparation for your exams. This includes:

  • Making a schedule will help when it comes to stress and makes it easier to study.
  • Studying over 40 minutes has been proved to be counterproductive so we suggest that you study for 30 mins with 10-minute breaks
  • Putting the hard subjects first makes it easier for you not to procrastinate
  • Using notes and flashcards to study can often be really useful tools.
  • Make sure that your notes are neatly organised and that you are caught up with any you may have missed or make flashcards to help you study.
  • Making up acronym/abbreviations for certain rules in subjects like math or languages is really helpful as it is a much easier way of remembering the rule.
  • Studying in a quiet environment without any electronic device around allows you to concentrate better, to stop procrastinating and to retain more information.
  • Asking teachers for help when you aren’t sure about a topic is always helpful, or if you prefer you can ask an older sibling or a parent to help.
  • By Asking an older sibling or parent to help with your oral exams, you will get good practice in before the actual oral and will be less stressed when you finally sit one. They can also give their own input for some of your answers and correct you when you make mistakes.
  • Using past papers to study is really useful as it allows you to practice real exam questions and to go over any topics you may be unsure about.
  • It is also important to remember that at the end of the day, it is just an exam and that it isn’t the end of the world if things don’t go quite to plan, just try your best and put in the work beforehand and everything will be fine.

We wish you all the best of luck in the exams and hope you found this useful.
