Before Easter, 1st Year students travelled to Trim in Co. Meath for a day outside the classroom to highlight the importance of minding our wellbeing.

It was a Thursday morning and we were outside of the school sitting in a bus with rain lashing against the windows. The bus driver informed us of the safety rules and we set off. Luckily, by the time we got there, the rain had cleared and the sun was shining. We got off the bus and started going through the castle gates. As we walked through we saw a massive tower made out of stone, just like in our History books! Our Year Head, Ms Ní Bhrolcháin, took many pictures before we went out for our walk. We strolled along the river Boyne, reminding us of the beauty of nature and how important is to take notice of our surroundings.

On the walk, we were able to chat with our friends and we had a great time. We saw Trim Castle and the many sheep roaming the grounds. When we finished our walk, we sat down on some benches, outside the Castle grounds and had a picnic!

After a while, we made our way back to the bus and set off to McDonalds. When we got to there, we queued outside, enjoying the sunshine. Everyone got their food and talked and caught up with friends. We got back to the school and went home, tired and happy!

This trip reminded us of the importance of looking after our mental health and wellbeing. Thanks to Ms Ní Bhrolcháin, to all the tutors and the SNAs that organised and came with us on the trip. We really enjoyed it!
