On Monday the 16th of May students from Donabate Community College visited the local Educate Together school to help run a Global Health Workshop with 5th and 6th classes similar to the one run in the school a couple of weeks before. The workshop was about promoting awareness and education on issues of Global Health and inequality in the Developing World.

We began the day in the Educate Together with 3 minute gongs from the facilitators, each of them spoke about an area of Global Health, like hygiene, pregnancy and the refugee crisis. A student from Donabate Community College, Shane Paterson volunteered to give a talk on his experience at the Global Health Conference.

After this we split into groups to help the students with the different activities they had to do, Bomb Shelter, the Global Trade Game and Giant Steps. Helping the students with these games was a great experience and a lot of fun to see how they figured out different problems that they were faced with.

There was a debate after lunch, which the students really got involved in and impressed all the facilitators. To end everyone welcomed the Cambodian visitors that were visting through the PEPY programme.

Overall we had a great day, seeing the students so engaged and involved was really encouraging for us. TY Students commented that it was a wonderful opportunity to have been involved and to get the chance to work with younger students. Thanks to Ms Lowry and Ms Lee and all the Global Health Forum for organizing the event.
