Skerries with too much for the first years in Championship Round 2 bout.
A low scoring but competitive game saw both sides aim for 2 wins out of 2 in the group and advance to the Championship semi final as group winners.
Donabate started slowly and came under a lot of pressure and fell into a 1-2 to 0-0 deficit. The nerves eventually started to ease as a well taken point from Ben McInerney and a goal from Stefffan Hughes saw us come back into it and trail by 1-4 to 1-1 at half time.
Max Egan and Jake Hand made a huge impact as well as Senan Casey who notched over a beauty of a point brought the deficit back down to a single point. 1-4 to 1-3.
However, that’s as good as it got as Skerries showed their class by holding onto the ball for extended periods and picking us off for a final score of 2-6 to 1-3.
The lads finish second in their group but advance to the knockout stages of the shield.
We wish the team well with preparations for the knockout stages! Thanks to Mr O’Meara for looking after the team!
