Last Friday, second year students travelled to Mayo to spend the weekend in Delphi Resort. Caoimhe Armstrong put together the following report capturing a brilliant weekend!
Our second-year school trip to Delphi Resort was an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, fun, and friendship. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Leenane, Delphi gave us the chance to try exciting activities like kayaking, zip-lining, climbing, and archery. We worked in teams, faced challenges together, and encouraged each other to step out of our comfort zones. In the evenings, we relaxed with campfires, games, and chats that brought our year group closer together. The trip wasn’t just about having fun—it also helped us grow in confidence, teamwork, and independence. It’s a memory we’ll all carry with us for years to come.
During our trip to Delphi, we had an amazing time taking part in all the different activities. From the excitement of zip-lining through the trees to the peacefulness of kayaking and canoeing on the water, every moment was filled with fun and adventure. We challenged ourselves with bog orienteering, getting muddy but laughing the whole way, and showed off our aim during archery. The forest walks gave us a chance to take in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy some time in nature. Each activity brought something new and helped us bond as a group. Whether we were climbing, paddling, or navigating through the bog, we made unforgettable memories and had so much fun along the way.
Before writing about our trip to Delphi, I decided to ask some of my year group how they felt about not having their phones during the few days we were away. Surprisingly, the majority of students said they didn’t really miss their phones at all. Most of them mentioned that they were so busy enjoying the activities, chatting with friends, and being outdoors that they hardly even thought about their phones. A few even said it was a nice break from social media and constant notifications. It was clear that being phone-free helped us focus more on the experience and each other, making the trip even more memorable.
Before I finish we would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing year head, Ms Ní Bhrólcháin, for all the effort she put into organising our trip to Delphi and for always supporting us throughout the year. We’re also really grateful to our tutors Dr Moran, Ms Clery, Ms Fennell, and Ms Buckley for their help, encouragement, and for making sure everything ran smoothly. A big thank you as well to Mr Walmsley and Mr Dowling, who came with us and made the trip so enjoyable with their good humour and patience. And of course, a special thanks to our wonderful SNA, Rebecca, for her kindness and support during the entire trip. We’re very lucky to have such a great team of teachers and staff looking after us!
We will definitely remember this experience for years to come!
