On Tuesday the 9th of May, we were delighted to welcome Chhunnay, Pheaktra, Chinh Chav and Ham to our school from Cambodia. This was the first PEPY visit here since before the Covid pandemic. Our visitors first visited Mr. Murphy’s CSPE class where our students got to hear about some Cambodian culture and history.

We then brought our visitors to one of our science labs where Ms. Curran showed them a short experiment. After a quick chat with some 5th years, we went to the hub to play some football and attend Mr. Byrne’s geography class to learn about caves, stalagmites and stalactites.

Next, was a small walk around the general area of our school, calling into Mr. Casey’s technology class and Mr. Clarke’s woodwork room. All of DCC’s students were very helpful, explaining their projects and showing them around the two rooms.

Before heading to our final destination, we stopped for a quick look at the basketball court and showed them the music room. Unexpectedly, we got to listen to a quick song in Cambodian from our visitors.

The final stop was a history lesson to Ms. Lindsay’s history class. After that, it was time to go! While our visitors learned from us, we learned a lot from them! We said goodbye and wished them all the best. Hopefully we will get to have you all here for longer next year!

Thanks to PEPY, Cambodia Ireland, DPETNS and Ms. Kelly for organising the visit. We wish Chhunnay, Pheaktra, Chinh Chav and Ham a wonderful stay in Ireland!
