Donabate Community College 4
Lucan Community College 0
Last Thursday week, Donabate senior girls’ hockey team faced Lucan Community College. We are so proud of the girls’ efforts throughout this match, despite the typical Irish downpour that made conditions difficult.
Niamh Neville took the girls into a huddle and gave the girls words of encouragement before the game started. The girls entered the pitch and started with some unbelievable play. However, Lucan girls put up a great defense, but they were no match for DCC. With the hockey ball flung up the pitch by her teammates, Sinead Farrell DCC secured their first goal. DCC girls did a great job at defending in the first half, a job done really well by Niamh Neville. The girls left the pitch with a 1-0 lead.
Entering the second half, DCC girls went on to the pitch with a clear focus on what they needed the end result to be. There were some great plays made in this half by the girls. Despite torrential conditions, DCC added three goals in the second half with Niamh Neville, Emma Walsh and Ava Colgan all getting their names on the scoresheet. The girls showed some great showmanship at the end of an enthralling game by giving three cheers towards Lucan Community College. We wish them all the best in their remaining games.
