On 23rd of September right outside the ALSAA Centre near Dublin Airport, we saw a rugby blitz between two neighbouring schools in Donabate and Malahide. Donabate won in a surprising full time score of 36-6. Planes flying over the field every minute drenched the match in darkness for split seconds, the unusual positioning of the field only made this match even more exciting.
Within the first half of the match, Donabate quickly took the lead, with Nathan Powell scoring a few tries by speeding past the competitors in speedy flanks. Malahide also scored once with a great start to the blitz.
In the second half of the match, William ‘Will’ Bell took the spotlight, blitzing past the defenders and scoring many times. Not only that, but many more tackles also took place in this second half as the players clashed with each other in a climactic struggle for victory.
At the end of the match, and as we conclude this report, Donabate showed an unbreakable defence and unexpected flanking capabilities. Malahide also showed a relentless offence, never letting up or backing down when the opportunity was in front of them.
