This year, we are delighted to have a team entered into the Equestrian Interschools Ireland League running between now and next April. We wish TY student Rhona Spagnoletti and 5th Year students Hazel McGoey and Chloe Hanlon every success with this year’s competition.

Schools from all over Ireland compete in this competition, giving Rhona, Hazel and Chloe lots of terrific opportunities to compete in some of the best equestrian venues around the country.

Last Sunday week, the girls and their horses travelled all the way to Rosslare to compete. While Rhona and Chloe competed in the Individual 80cm class, Hazel jumped in the Individual 90cm class. While there may not have been any rosettes brought home, each student had a solid jumping round and have identified areas to improve for future weeks. A big thank you to DCC alumni Cole Bowbrick, for acting as Chef D’Equip on the day (assisting the girls by helping them warm up and doing the course walk with them).

They will get the opportunity to put this learning into practice this Sunday, 2nd October as they travel to Coilóg Equestrian Centre, Kildare for the second round of the League. Rhona and Hazel are travelling with their horses Cookie and Rocklawns Warrior (Rocky!) while Chloe is giving her horse, Royal Mastermind (Sam!) a deserved break.

This afternoon, Mr Doyle presented Rhona and Hazel with a numnah or saddle pad to use during their competitions.

We wish the team every success this season and look forward to hearing how their League goes! Best of luck on Sunday girls!

A big thank you to Anne Dickinson and Rhona, Hazel and Chloe for their help in compiling this piece!
