Congratulations to the Leaving Certificate Class of 2025 who celebrated their Graduation last Tuesday evening.

MCs for the evening Jack Doyle and Murron McGuire opened the ceremony by welcoming each individual class with their tutor into the hall.

The gathering then heard speeches from Ken Farrell, Chairperson of the Board of Management, Ms Rooney, Mr Doyle and student valedictorians, Gavin O’Connor and Jessica Hannigan, while there were also musical performances from the school band and the sixth year music class.

Students were then presented with their Graduation medals before posing for class photos for the final time and watching a graduation video of memories from their time in DCC.

Mr Treacy and Mr Doyle made presentations to a number of students. The Year Head’s Award went to Sarah McMahony, the Principal’s Award was presented to Dan McDonald, the Ad Astra Award went to Aoife Bissett while the Spirit of the School Award went to Cian Latham. The Spirit of the School Award is in memory of Gerry McGuire, a man who was a key member of DCC’s Board of Management and the Donabate Portrane community. We were delighted to have Gerry’s wife, Mary, and his daughter, Darina, at the Graduation Ceremony to make the presentation to Cian. Ethos Awards were also presented to a number of students by Dr. Harley.

Mr Treacy spoke to the gathering and gave the Graduating class some advice for life after DCC. The year group took to the stage for the final time to sing their graduation song, ‘Dreams’ by the Cranberries to end the evening on a high!

Many thanks to Mr Treacy and the 6th Year team for all of the organising behind the scenes. A huge thanks to the Parents’ Council for all of their work preparing for the Graduation which is truly a highlight on the DCC calendar.

Many thanks to all of the staff who have worked with this year group throughout their time in DCC and helped prepare for their Graduation.

A big thank you to Emma Ryan from bonniesballoons who provided the balloon display for graduation.

To the Leaving Cert Class of 2025, we wish you all the very best as you take the next steps along life’s journey. We wish you every success with the State Exams which commence on Wednesday, 4th June.
