“And all the roads that lead you there are winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I
Would like to say to you but I don’t know how”
Many congratulations to the Leaving Certificate Class of 2022 who graduated last week. We held our first Leaving Cert in person Graduation since 2019 and it was terrific to see so many familiar faces in the crowd, including many past students.
Ms Gentles was MC for the evening, and she welcomed the graduates to the Main Hall in their base classes before welcoming Mr Adrian Henchy, Chairman of the Board of Management to say a few words. Mr Henchy congratulated the Class of 2022 for all they had achieved and the resilience they had shown over the course of their studies. He reminded the cohort of the many ways there are to fulfil their dreams and wished them every success with their exams.
Mr Doyle and Mrs Flynn both spoke to those in attendance and congratulated the Class on reaching this stage of their education and thanked the parents and guardians for all of their help and support throughout the last number of years.
Mr Creevey then spoke of his pride in the Class of 2022 and he presented a number of Principal Awards. Well done to Seán McNamara, Ella O’Neill, Jack Davis, Louis Corcoran, Oisín McGillicuddy, Ciara Grace, Matthew Horne O’Connor, Neasa Bissett, Nathan Fitzpatrick, Finn Martin and Jade Murphy who all received Principal Awards.
The 6th Year Music class, led by their teacher Ms Curtis, performed ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’ by Abba before Oisín McGillicuddy and Ella O’Neill spoke on behalf of the students. They reflected fondly on their memories and reminded the Class of the new beginnings that lay ahead, thanking those who had helped students to get to this point.
As is tradition, students watched a photo video of memories from their time in DCC. Many thanks to TY students Laura Matthews and Ruby Corcoran for producing this year’s video.
6th Year Year Head, Mr Roche, then spoke on how proud he was of this year’s Leaving Cert Class. He spoke of their kindness, patience, resilience and determination. He reminded students to look out for each other and stay connected to each other over the next few days and weeks. Mr Roche thanked the staff at DCC for all they had done for this year’s Class and for those who helped to prepare for the Graduation. He also thanked the Parents’ Council for all their hard work. Mr Roche and the 6th Year tutors then presented Graduating Medals to the LC Class of 2022.
The Year Group then gathered for their Graduation Song, ‘Wonderwall’ before enjoying refreshments and celebrating with their families, friends and teachers.
Congratulations to the Leaving Cert Class of 2022 and we wish you all every success no matter what path you find yourself on next.
