1st October 2021

Latest News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year in Donabate Community College, we intend to link in with the Planet Youth Project, a project which gives voice to the views and opinions of our young people. We hope that this will open a door to conversations which we have not previously had the opportunity to engage in.

You will have receive a letter in the coming week about Planet Youth, and the associated survey which will run in the school before the mid-term break. In advance of this letter arriving in your home, a PDF version containing information on the project, it’s aims and objectives is attached to this post.

In order to be sure that parents have opportunity to ask questions about the process, an information webinar is planned for Tuesday next 5th October at 7:30pm.  There are two Planet Youth sites in Ireland rolling out the survey this October, Cavan / Monaghan and North Dublin. The webinar is a collaboration between the two sites.

Attendance at the webinar is completely voluntary and will be short, about 45 minutes.

The webinar will include:

  • Welcome and introductions.
  • Showing a short promotional video featuring Paul Reid CEO of the HSE; Professor Mary Cannon RCSI Academic lead on the ethical approval process; and young people who will participate in the survey.
  • Showing a video that explains Planet Youth and the survey process.

  • Input from Dr. Emmet Power Clinical Research Fellow.

  • Question and Answer session.

The inputs may answer any questions you have, but if not, there will be opportunity to ask questions after the inputs.

If you wish to attend the webinar please copy the link below into the search bar and click enter.  There is a passcode below also in case you are required to enter that before gaining access to the webinar waiting room. This passcode will be sent to you by text.
