Recently, the School of Sanctuary Club visited Clonturk Community College in collaboration with their Diversity Committee.

We were given a fantastic welcome to their school. As we settled in, we got a tour of the school, viewing their amazingly decorated and prepared rooms where students can relax. We then moved to a bigger assembly room to put our bags down.

Firstly, we started with an introductory game where each person stated their name and one thing about themselves. This was very interesting, and it was fun meeting new people. When we finished, we took a little break with some of their nicely prepared biscuits, tea and coffee. Then, we played more games where we paired up with someone from the other school and had to learn about them, then we pretended to be them and talked about them as we would talk about ourselves.

We were delighted to catch up with Mr Creevey, who was our Principal, and is now Principal in Clonturk CC. He had a chat with us and showed us his new office.

Later, we sat down and students from both schools delivered their amazingly prepared speeches on different topics, such as racism and diversity, that had been discussed earlier. After we finished the presentations, it was time for one last game, we all gathered into a circle and a yarn ball was thrown from one person to another creating this very big spider web connecting us all.

Finally, it was time to say goodbye to all the friendly people at Clonturk CC. As we were getting on the bus, Mr. Creevey decided to say one last goodbye to us all, then we departed.

A big thank you to the staff and students of Clonturk CC for making us feel so welcome and thanks to Ms Nyamuranga and Ms Melvin who accompanied the DCC students.
