Two weeks ago today, our senior hurlers wrote themselves into the history books of Donabate Community College. In just the fourth year of a competitive senior team, the lads immersed themselves into DCC history by winning a Dublin championship. A first for the school.
This is coupled up with our senior football success back in January, to complete a senior hurling and football double.

Match Report by TY Journalists, Ava Flemiong and Sarah Murphy. (this was posted across our social media channels)

“Last week, our senior hurlers won the first ever hurling championship for our school. They started strong in the first half scoring 7 goals, a big well done to Aidan Walsh scoring 4 of the 7.  Many points were scored throughout the first half from Conor Heffernan, Sean Kennedy and Ethan Ryan.
There was great support for the team from the sideline from parents and some of our DCC students, cheering them on the whole match.

At half time the score was 7-8 to 0-2, giving the lads great confidence to face into the second half of the match and fight all the way until the end for a win. However, we did have a gale force behind us.

In the second half Leixlip started to gain a few points, but not for long as our lads came down on them like a storm and scored a couple more goals and points from Joey Kelly, Liam Murray and James Freel.

The lads put in 100% of their best efforts from the very start of the match all the way until the end so a 9-13 to 3-5  win was well deserved.

When the match came to an end the excitement and joy was unmatched. They received their trophy and were absolutely delighted with the win. Dylan Duke and James Freel said a few nice words to the team and then they were back on the bus in their celebratory suits for what was a loud bus home with great singing.

When the hurlers landed back in DCC they paraded the corridors with even more singing and cheer. It was a great day for the lads with a match and memories they will never forget!

Congratulations to the team and a massive thank you to the supporters who came along , to Mr O’Meara and Mr Ward for organising and supporting the team.
