We were delighted to gather last Wednesday evening to celebrate the achievements of our Transition Year Class of 2025.
Before the Ceremony started, students gave their parents and guardians a tour of the school where their work was displayed from the past year in their various subjects and modules.
The Ceremony started as Mr Weafer welcomed the classes into the Hall, led by their tutors. Mr Doyle then spoke and congratulated the TY group for their enthusiasm to get involved in all of the different activities during TY – everything from circus skills to first aid and driving lessons. Mr Doyle thanked students for getting involved in supporting the school and representing them on the sporting fields and in a number of competitions. He wished them a wonderful summer break and looked forward to working with them in Senior Cycle.
Awards were then presented in a whole host of areas – every subject and module, extra-curricular and our Ethos Awards.
Well done to Aidan Walsh, TY Sportsman of the Year and Arona Romeri, TY Sportswoman of the Year. Stevie Coates was presented with the TY Academic Award, while Nikolai Polnis-Borzyk was presented with the Principal’s Award.
There were a large number of nominations for the Spirit of TY, but the Award went to Eimear Gleeson. Eimear took TY in her stride, getting involved in lots of activities, including coaching younger teams, the school broadcast and starring for the senior ladies team.
Lucy McBrien and Saoirse Lundberg performed brilliant solo pieces, and we also heard from Holly Keyes, Saoirse Lundberg and Donagh Crean. The students spoke about their journey through TY, thanking their Year Head Mr Clarke and TY Coordinator Mr Weafer as well as all of the teachers who had worked with them for the past year.
There was time for two videos recapping the year, one looking at all of their different activities over the course of the year and another recapping a memorable trip to Cologne over the Easter break!
Thanks to Mr Clarke and Mr Weafer for looking after the TY students this year and to all of the staff who worked with TY students.
We look forward to working with TYs as they move on to Senior Cycle in August!
