Donabate CC – 4
Dundalk Grammar School – 1
DCC Under 17 boys took on Dundalk Grammar School in their first game of season, winning strongly 4-1.
As the game kicked off, both teams were hungry for the lead. Both teams had many chances but the teams’ defences were strong. Unfortunately for DCC, Dundalk took the lead in the first 10 minutes with a lucky goal. DCC came back strongly with a nice ball from Hugh Martin to Liam Murray unfortunately hitting the crossbar. Not long after, Sean McCormack played a beautiful ball through to Liam Murray and he slotted the ball in the net to level the game.
Not too long after, DCC found a very good shot which led to a corner. The keeper got to the ball and tapped it away but it landed at Harrison Burke’s feet leading to another great finish. DCC, now leading, continued attacking hard but couldn’t find the net.
Just before half time, Jack Molloy ran down the right wing and whipped a ball across to Sam Bukovec who finished to push DCC into a 3-1 lead. In the final few minutes of the match, DCC got a free at the half way line. Aidan Walsh played a ball towards the post and Oisin McSorley ran in and blasted it to the back of the net to ensure a 4-1 win for DCC!

On Tuesday, November 12th, the U17’s boys football team went head on against De La Salle in an exciting game played on their home pitch.
With DCC winning the tip off, we knew we were going to put up a good fight. Just 5 minutes into the game De La Salle scored a goal which was then disallowed for being off-side. Shortly after, 15 minutes in, Hugh Martin whipped a good ball into the box which Jack Molloy put away with ease. After this goal we dominated possession, until our number 10 Liam Murray scored a nice finish from 7 yards making the score 2-0. We then had another couple chances before the whistle went but nothing came from them. After a hardworking first half, the whistle blew and DCC came off the pitch, with the score set at 2-0.
After a good team talk from Mr. Hopkins, DCC came back on the pitch with a great mindset of working harder and smarter, and they added to their lead with a great goal 3 minutes in scored by Jake Hall. Our defence was strong and we were not conceding any chances and our hopes for a clean sheet were high. Then in the 58th minute mark Jake Haul then scored his second of the game making the score 4-0.
Nothing got through our mid fields for the majority of the game and even if they did our outstanding goal keeper Nathan Powell wouldn’t give in. Jack Molloy gets his brace in the 78th minute with another beautiful finish. Just 4 minutes after Jack’s great goal, Jake Hall got his hat trick. A very short 2 minutes later Lucas O’Dowd scored from just inside the box, bottom left of the net. We were doing very well in the last minutes of the match but unfortunately we lost our clean sheet in the last minute thanks to a lovely free kick by DLS.
This finished the dramatic game with the final score 7-1 to DCC.
Big thanks to Mr. Hopkins and Mr. O’Meara for coaching the great game.

Coláiste na Mí – 1
DCC left their mark in Navan by winning their third game in a row with an end to end battle and 2-1 win against Coláiste na Mí. A brace from Hugh Martin sealed victory for DCC.
It was a tough first half for DCC with a lot of pressure being put on them at the back, but with Nathan Powell’s brave goalkeeping they stayed in the game.
DCC started gaining momentum going forward when Liam Murray smashed the crossbar from outside of the box on his left foot shaking the goal and the Navan defence.
Into the second half and DCC looked far calmer, playing with more confidence. Thy were stringing passes together, when out of nowhere Hugh Martin took a rocket shot outside the box that was too powerful for the keeper!
Soon after, Sam Bukovec played a great ball from the right wing into Hugh Martin, and Martin made no mistake with his second!
DCC looked firm at the back but they got unlucky, conceding from an indirect free kick to set up a nervous finish. However, DCC stood firm and saw the game out to win 2-1. Many thanks to Mr Hopkins for his hard work!
