Victory on the Double for DCC Girls’ Basketball
Congratulations to the U16 girls’ basketball team that had not one, but two victories last week. Last Tuesday, they defeated Belmayne by 31 points to 14. The next day the girls continued their winning streak by winning 25 to 9 against Hansfield ETSS.
They played against Balmayne girls team first. Our girls team started of strong with 9 baskets in the first quarter and they finished their last quarter just as well. They play well as a team and it truly shows during the match with how well they worked together, it really showed their teamwork. The player of the match was undoubtedly Lucy Davidson scoring a total of 8 baskets, as well as showing tremendous sportsmanship throughout the match.
The following day, the U16s team lined out against Hansfield ETSS with just as much energy and enthusiasm. They started the match with a strong defence and offence and maintained that pressure throughout the match, working really well as a team. The last quarter was definitely their strongest, as they outscored their opponents by fourteen points to zero. Sophie Mitchell really stood out during this match by scoring majority of the baskets and working well with her teammates.
These victories ensure DCC a place in the quarter finals. They face Clonturk CC in that quarter final, tomorrow Friday away with tip set for 11:30. We wish the team and Mr Byrne the very best of luck!
