Donabate Community College – 3
Loreto Balbriggan – 1
Last Friday our 1st year girls had a fantastic first cup match against Loreto Balbriggan. Despite the icy pitch and freezing weather, the girls played brilliantly and left the pitch with a win of 3-1 and a place in the Leinster quarter-finals!
The match started slowly, with Loreto scoring the first goal in the 2nd minute, but the girls kept their spirits high and continued to play well. The team played brilliantly, working together and showing a great defence. They continued taking shots but were unlucky up until the 11th minute when Kayla evened the score,1-1. Before the end of the first half, Isadora scored another amazing goal, pushing the team closer to a win, ending the first half 2-1 to DCC.
Throughout both halves, our goalkeeper Isabella Duke saved many shots from the other team, preventing them from getting a lead. In the second half, despite the fierce competition, the DCC girls scored yet another goal in the 13th minute. When the whistle blew, the team left their first match with a stunning score of 3-1, carrying them to the next round.
