On Friday the 19th our 1st years faced Lusk in a tough battle and ended up coming out with 1 point in a 0-0 draw. The team was led out by their captain Anthony Kelly.

In the first few minutes Lusk were applying pressure on DCC, it seemed they were going to take the lead, but they couldn’t break down the DCC defence. DCC grew into the game with a great chance from Aidan Barry as he was played through on goal by Anthony Kelly. In the closing stages of the first half Lusk went on a counterattack but it was quickly broken down by a sublime tackle by Kevin O’Leary.

In the early stages of the second half DCC applied pressure as the game started to open up. With chances at both ends it seemed that neither team could break the deadlock. There was a great chance when Ryan Darcy played a great ball into the box looking for the head of Matthew Lunt, but he couldn’t get on the end of it as he threw himself at the ball. Coming to the late stages of the game DCC got a corner with Ryan Darcy swinging in a beautiful ball to the front post hoping that one of his teammates could tap it in for the win but unfortunately, they couldn’t convert the chance.

A great performance from DCC and a well-deserved point to put them in a good position in the league. A special mention to Kevin O’Leary that had an unbelievable game playing in a new position.
