Junior Cycle Celebrations in DCC

17th October 2019

Slightly later than previous years, Third Year students received their Junior Cycle results on Friday 4th October. Three years of dedication, hard work and perseverance paid off as students ripped open the envelopes and faces of worry and concern made way for smiles and even some tears of joy! We are extremely proud of the hard work and achievement of our students and we wish them well as they move on to the next stage of their learning.

TY Journalism student Daniel Ryan has reflected on the experience of receiving his results;

“It’s a day that strikes fear into some students. In my opinion, the night before is the worst part. A night tossing and turning, wondering what would be printed on the results sheet. For me on Friday morning, the stress was gone. This was because my Dad reassured me as we were walking into the school that as long as I gave it my all, there was no reason to be worried.

As I was waiting in line to get my results, I had mixed emotions. I was worried about how I did and I was happy that the wait for results would soon be over. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, I finally made it to the top of the queue. I walked into the room with Mrs. Flynn and Mr. Doyle waiting there with all the results laid out on the table in a large white envelopes. Mrs. Flynn then handed me my results shook my hand and wished me the best of luck.

I walked out into the hall that was filled with smiling parents and students and found my Dad with my results clenched in my hand. Although most people chose to open their results in school to show their teachers how they did and get photos taken, I chose to leave the school and open mine at home. I’m not quite sure why I decided to open my results at home. I guess it was because I didn’t want people coming up to me asking how I did every two minutes. When I finally opened the envelope, I was very happy with how I did. The hard work paid off and I soon realised that the stress and worries of the night before were pointless!

Students were so proud that their hard work had revealed excellent results across the array of subjects. We look forward receiving our Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement later this term – which celebrates the results of our terminal exams alongside the hard work of our Classroom Based Assessments and our Other Areas of Learning.

Well done to all students who received their results and many thanks to our parents and our teachers who have encouraged and supported us over the last three years.”
