The under 19 boys basketball team played Castleknock under 19s last week. As it was our very first match of the year, the game was loose in some places, but we played determinedly and with great spirit. The team were down by a solitary point at the end of the first quarter.
We began the second quarter with a fighting spirit and at half time led by two points. However, Castleknock’s centre and accurate shooting proved too strong and the third and fourth quarters fell to the opposition. The game was won in the end by Castleknock, however we can be proud of our efforts for the first match of the season. Crucially all members of the Donabate Community College squad got match time and this will stand us in good stead ahead of our next match. Top scorers for Donabate Community College were Luke Rock, Jake Gorman and Gav Protacio.
