Clonturk Community College – 0
It was an 11’o clock start for the Regional League Semi Final with DCC playing Clonturk at home. DCC had an intense warmup to prepare themselves for their big game. DCC had tip off. The possession was mainly in DCC’s hands. In the 4th minute, Isadora Mulcahy Kyne scored the first goal of the game. Shortly after, in the 9th minute, she scored her second goal from outside of the box. It was a cracking goal. It was looking positive for DCC but Clonturk were not giving up. There was some great play by Lily Caswell throughout the game. In the 17th minute, Saoirse Bissett had a chance to make it 3-0, but the keeper made a fine save. DCC kept pilling on pressure and were unlucky not to have scored more before half time whistle blew. It was 2-0 at the break.
Quickly into the second half, Maisie Finegan scored her first goal of the game. Not long after, Kayla Clifford followed up with another goal, making the score 4-0. Sophie Nangle made some great runs down the right wing and kept the play up high. Freya Smith followed up with another great goal to make the score 5-0. The team played excellent throughout the game and to finish us off they were on the attack to look for their 6th goal. Unfortunately, Clonturk won a penalty. They took the shot but nothing could get past Isabella Duke.
Freya Smith made a great run down the wing and crossed the ball in the box to Sophie Nangle who fired a shot. The ball went flying into the net. The final whistle blew and DCC end with a 6-0 win. They are now into the final and the opposition is yet to be decided. Well done to the girls. Some great football was played. Good luck in the final!
