Donabate Community College – 4
Boyne Community School – 2
On the 24th of October, our senior boys soccer team took on Boyne Community School in a very competitive game in Navan. Donabate came out on top after a tough battle.
Donabate got off to a rocky start by conceding the first goal in the 8th minute. Our goalkeeper, Nathan Powell made some excellent saves to keep out some possible goals for Boyne. DCC then came back winning a corner in the 33rd minute with a great header into the back of the net by James Freel. Boyne had many chances but they were kept out by DCC’s super defence.
DCC started the second half with all guns blazing. In the 53rd minute Harry Stenson scored a great goal and then a penalty scored by Liam O’Leary allowed DCC to go 3-1 up in the 57th minute. Boyne showed signs of coming back with a lucky goal in the 70th minute but James Freel secured the win in the last minute of the game with a nice goal.
The final score ended Donabate CC 4-2 Boyne Community School.
Thank you to Mr. Ward and Mr. Dunne for leading the team and well done to all involved.
